Welcome to the MIDENO Website
MIDENO was created to act as overseer of rural development programmes in the North West Region of Cameroon on behalf of the government.
MIDENO has since 1982, coordinated the implementation of two rural development projects; the North West High Plateau Rural Development Project, simply called MIDENO Phase I from 1982 to 1990 and MIDENO Phase II Reformulated from 1999 to 2002.
MIDENO’s third project; the Grassfield Participatory and Decentralized Rural Development Project (GP-DERUDEP) was mounted and it went operational in October 2004. With the take off of GP-DERUDEP, MIDENO’s intervention architecture became more characterized by one of its roles of project conception, design, sourcing of funding and supervising the implementation of such projects by Project Implementation Units lodged in MIDENO as well as consolidating project achievements. That is, conducting studies, research or operations connected with rural development in the North West, with the view of mounting projects and supervising /monitoring their implementation and ensuring the sustainability of achievements.
Presently, three other MIDENO designed projects are ongoing; Grassfield Participatory and Decentralized Rural Development Phase II(GP-DERUDEP II), Grassfield Participatory and Integrated Rural Development Project (GP-IRDP) and the Livestock and Fisheries Development Project(LIFIDEP). These projects are being implemented by Project Implementation Units whereas MIDENO’s role is that of supervision.
With the North West Region having over 530 communities who are mostly in rural areas, these MIDENO projects and other development projects executed have not been able to take the majority of the inhabitants of these communities out of poverty. Therefore, MIDENO being at the fore front of development in the Region has continued to identify some constraints and problems plaguing the rural communities based on which two projects in the area of Micro Finance and Climate Change are being designed. MIDENO is equally summing up momentum to consolidate the achievements of projects in the Region in order to ensure sustainability.
The North West Region relies almost entirely on agriculture for the welfare of its people and there are many development partners working towards improving the livelihoods of these rural agricultural masses of the Region. One of the issues holding back agricultural production is farmers’ failure to access good quality seeds. The seed is a key factor in agricultural production. MIDENO is doubling efforts to continue to produce and distribute improved planting material to the dynamic farming population of the Region. MIDENO has equally put at the disposal of the farmers, tractor services in all the seven divisions so that agricultural production should be increased in order to ensure food security.
Recently, he Government has enabled MIDENO to acquire heavy duty equipment to boost performance. These equipment include: Bulldozer, Tippers, Front end loader, Compactor, tractors, Excavator, Water tanker, and pickup truck. These equipment will also be put at the disposal of the population of the North West Region.
We hope this website gives you the opportunity to contact MIDENO on any issue of interest and obtain answers in an interactive way within a shortest timeframe.
